It's a barrel on the beach added in by a mod. They are just stressing "It's deffo not the barrel from the boat!" which. The obvious answer is "The boat" as you said, but if he said "No one picked any up from the boat" then I imagine most people would think either he or one of his friends had picked one up from the boat accidentally and not told the group.
